After listening to some veteran artists (both Dancehall
& Reggae), Corporate Jamaica, certain persons in the media and various
religious entities speak negatively about Dancehall music and the impact it is
having on our youths, Karamanti has decided to retaliate.
She will release her first full length studio album entitled
“Dancehall Retaliates” on Thursday, April 25th, 2013. It will be a
collection of Dancehall tracks that coves varying topics ranging from the noise
abatement act (implemented in Jamaica to ensure that events end at a certain
time each night) to the struggles faced by emerging artists.
Karamanti, who is known as a positive or culture artist,
says she will take some risk on this album.
Normally she would stay away from lyrics about intimate
relationships but she decided that in order to ensure that the album is
balanced and truly represent the Dancehall community, it is necessary to do
some of those songs on this project.
So far, confirmed collaborations are with Asante Amen and 3
Star. However, the artist and her team are still in dialogue with a couple
other artists that she would like to be featured on the album. Beat productions
are by the infamous Red Boom (who has also done production for Jah Vinci, Vybz
Kartel, I-Octane and others), Digital Sham (who has done production for Macka
Diamond, Lutan Fyah, Beenie Man and others), Canadian based producer, Newton
Walker and Denmark’s, Pharfar.
Dancehall Retaliates promises to be high energy, captivating
and entertaining.
